The APT ICT Ministerial Meeting was held in Brunei Darussalam from 10 to 11 September, 2014. The meeting was hosted by the Government of Brunei Darussalam. As part of the five years' achievement of APT since the last ministerial meeting, the successful projects under APT’s ICT Development Programme for Supporting ICT Pilot Projects in Rural Areas (J3 Programme) were presented to the APT ICT ministers.
(1) “Pilot project for Medical Information System to enhance public safety and improve Health & Medical services with ICT for rural areas in Lao P.D.R.” by the project leader, Mr. Phonpasit Phissamay, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Lao P.D.R. with the expert, Ms. Kobayashi Mayumi, Fujitsu, Japan
(2) “Nepal Wireless Networking Project” by the project leader, Mr. Mahabir Pun, E-Network Research and Development, Nepal with the expert, Mr. Yasuhiko Kawasumi, ITU-Association of Japan Inc.,Japan
(3) “Broadband Farm to Market Ecosystem for Fisherfolk Communities” by the project leader, Professor Gregory Tangonan, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines with the expert, Dr. Hideyuki Iwata, NTT, Japan
(4) “Pilot Project for e-disaster communication network in rural island environment” by the project leader, Mr. Alifeleti Tuifa Tuihalamaka, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Tonga with the expert, Mr. Sadaharu Hashimoto, Japan Radio Co., Ltd., Japan
For their dedication and contribution towards the projects, awards were presented by APT to the leaders and the experts.
