The Third APT Preparatory Meeting for ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2012 (WTSA12-3) was held in Cairns, Australia from 19 to 21 March 2012. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Broadband, Communications, and the Digital Economy of the Government of Australia.

The meeting was held with support from ITU as there will not be a separate Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Asia-Pacific Region from ITU for the WTSA-12. In this regard, ITU will be providing necessary technical support for the meeting.

The objectives of the Third APT Preparatory Meeting for WTSA-12 includes; review of the preparations to the WTSA-12 made by APT, ITU and other regional organizations, discussion on key issues for WTSA-12, and development of Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) for WTSA12 based on members’ proposals.

The WTSA12-3 was followed by the Third APT Preparatory Meeting for World Conference on International Telecommunications 2012 (WCIT12-3) from 22 to 24 March 2012.
