The 9th Policy and Regulation Forum for Pacific (PRFP-9) was held from 28 to 30 June 2016 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The forum was hosted by the National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA), Papua New Guinea, and supported by the Extra Budgetary Contributions from Australia and Japan.

The objective of PRFP-9 was to bring together the telecommunications and ICT policy makers and regulators from the Pacific region for a dialogue on issues faced by them. The forum will focus on topics including (1) policy and regulatory trends in the Pacific, (2) international connectivity for the Pacific, (3) issues in reducing mobile roaming charges in the Pacific, (4) policy and regulation of OTT, (5) cybersecurity and internet policy issues, (6) emergency communications and ICT for disaster risk reduction, (7) regional cooperation and shared infrastructure in the Pacific, and (8) a business dialogue on the competitiveness of the telecommunications market in the Pacific.
