The General Assembly 

The General Assembly is the supreme organ of the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and it is composed of all the Members and Associate Members of the Telecommunity.  It meets in ordinary session every three years and in extraordinary session when circumstances require.

The General Assembly establishes general policies and principle to achieve the objectives of the Telecommunity, establishes the basis for the annual budget and determine limits of three years annual expenditure, concludes and revises necessary agreements between the Telecommunity and Governments, organizations or administration.

The General Assembly elects a President and two Vice Presidents at each ordinary session. For the current  3 year term (2008-2011), the office bearers are:

President: Dr. Halim Bin Man, Malaysia

Vice President: Mr. Tin Htwe, Myanmar

Vice President: Mr. Zakaria Hassan, Afghanistan

 The General Assembly also elects the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General of the Telecommunity and define the terms and conditions of their employment.  The current elected officials are:

          Secretary General: Mr. Toshiyuki Yamada

          Deputy Secretary General:  Mr. Kraisorn Pornsutee

The Management Committee  

The Management Committee composed of all Members and Associate Members which meets once a year. It pursues the polices and principles of the General Assembly, and supervises the Secretariat's function, reviews and approves work program, annual budget and accounts and draws up regulations, etc.

The Management Committee elects a Chairman and two Vice Chairmen every two years. The present office bearers are:

Chairman: Dr. Kyu-Jin Wee, Republic of Korea

Vice Chairman: Mr. Ahmad Pourangnia, Islamic Republic of Iran

Vice Chairman: Dr. Phan Tam, Socialist Republic of Vietnam

The Secretariat 

The Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General assisted by the other officials of the Secretariat, carry out the duties established by the Management Committee and the General Assembly. The APT Secretariat composed of the Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General and other officials as approved by the Management Committee.
