| 3rd Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for
      World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (APG19-3) 12
      - 16 March 2018, Perth, Australia The 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WRC-19
      (APG19-3) was held from 12 to 16 March 2018 in Perth, Australia. The
      meeting was hosted by the Department of Communications and the Arts,
      Government of Australia, and arranged by Australian Communications and
      Media Authority (ACMA). The meeting was addressed by Senator the
      Honorable Mitch Fifield, Minister for Communications and the Arts,
      Australian Government, and inaugurated by Mr. Mike Mrdak, Secretary,
      Department of Communications and the Arts, Australian Government.   The meeting was attended by nearly 400 delegates from APT
      Members, Associate Members, Affiliate Members, ITU, Regional
      Organizations and other related organizations involved in the preparation
      for WRC-19. The objectives of the meeting were to update the
      Preliminary Views of APT on WRC-19 Agenda Item based on outcomes of
      APG19-2, study results of ITU-R Study Groups and contributions submitted
      by APT Members. The meeting received a large number of input
      contributions from APT Members on their preliminary views on WRC-19
      Agenda Item. After extensive discussion at the level of Drafting Groups
      and Working Parties, the meeting was able to update Preliminary Views of
      APT on WRC-19 Agenda Item. Updated Preliminary Views are available on
      APT website. The meeting also approved a Liaison Statement to ITU-R WP5A
      on the issue of Draft CPM Report on WRC-19 Agenda Item 1.11.    APG19-4 will be held from 7 to 12 January 2019 in Republic
      of Korea and APG19-5 from 31 July to 6 August 2019 in Japan.   Prior to APG19-3, “Training Workshop for International
      Conferences - for APG / WRC” was
      held from 8 to 9 March 2018 at the same venue. The workshop was organized
      by APT in collaboration with the Australian Government and financially
      supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, Japan
      through the Extra-budgetary Contribution from Japan (EBC-J).    The workshop was attended by 29 trainees from 12 Members and
      4 Affiliate Members. Ms. Cathy Rainsford, Assistant Secretary for
      Spectrum and Security, Department of Communications and the Art,
      Australian Government delivered an address at the opening session. The Chairman,
      Vice-Chairman, Chairman of Working Group of APG as well as and
      experienced specialists from APT Affiliate Members and ITU took part in
      the training workshop as lecturers.   The objective of this training workshop was to provide an
      opportunity for the new generation to learn about international
      conferences, particularly, the APG / WRC. The training workshop consisted
      of classroom lectures as well as exercise sessions which offered the
      trainees a hands-on experience to take part in discussions and
      negotiations at the international conferences. The trainees learned about
      the APG / WRC from the informative lectures and actively participated in
      the exercise sessions.                                                               APT is planning to organize
      another Training Workshop on Preparing for International Conference next
      year.
